Restaurant – This Friday is your last chance to get the Fried Walleye if you missed it the first time! Thanks to Dave Zweifel, Sue Potthast & the Lincoln crew for a fabulous knockwurst dinner! We still have some fine culinary opportunities left this season:
August 31 – Kessler Ribs Mit Kraut (smoked pork chop)
September 1 – Polish Sausage w/grilled onions or Buffalo Chicken Burger
September 2 – Donna’s Reuben Sandwiches till they’re gone, limited quantity!
Entertainment – we have entertainment lined up for every Friday this summer. Here’s the next couple of weeks:
August 24 – Comstock Lode
August 31 – The All Stars
September 2 – The L&M Experience
Cottages for bid – the Illinois District has two cottages up for bid. To be eligible to own a cottage you must have been a member of a Turner society for at least one year by the time the bids are opened on August 27th at the next District Council meeting. Submit your bid in a sealed envelope with a check for your full bid amount, $750 or best offer. Include how many years you have been a member and to which Society you belong. Bids will be opened and read at the August 27th District Council meeting. Should you have a winning bid you may take possession immediately and you will have all the rights and privileges and will not owe anything until the ground leases are mailed this fall.
Cottage 26 – one room cottage in Mosquito Hollow (near the river)
Cottage 52 – one room cottage in Aurora Lane (close to parking and the Rathskeller)
New Duty Opportunities – we are looking for folks who are interested in some non-standard unique duties. See Scott Lau for more details on any of these.
Friday Dinner Special – in lieu of your three scheduled 2.5 hour duties you’d prepare one of your favorite dishes to serve forty as the Fish Fry Special of the week.
You can prepare at your cottage or in the Raths/Dining Hall kitchen, your call. Camp would reimburse you for the food cost.
Saturday Snack Bar Coordinator – in lieu of your three scheduled 2.5 hour duties you’d have three Saturdays where you’d be there at the beginning of the early snack bar shift, turn the equipment on and orient the volunteers as they arrive. Check in with the late crew shortly after their arrival to answer any questions. Finally at the end of the snack bar shift, count and deposit the money, turn the equipment off, and check to ensure the crew cleaned up appropriately. Prior to doing this I’d give you and review a list of items to cover with the crew and show you how to turn on the equipment. You wouldn’t have to be in the Raths the whole time, but you could come and go.
Driving – please drive carefully whether on the main road or one of our gravel access roads. Kids are often running downhill from one part of camp to another and are not always mindful of the potential for cars. We as the adults have to drive slowly and make sure that a tragedy NEVER EVER occurs!
Fall Activities – the fun doesn’t end just because the youth program is over! We have a lot of fun activities this fall to participate in.
